6 Signs Your Phone Battery Needs Replacing
Phone dying by lunchtime? Here's how to tell whether it's time for a fresh battery.
Phone batteries wear out with every charge cycle. After two or three years, most lose enough capacity that you'll notice. Here are the most common signs.
1. It doesn't last the day anymore
If you used to get a full day and now you're hunting for a charger by mid-afternoon, the battery has likely lost a big chunk of its capacity.
2. It shuts off with charge left
Sudden shutdowns at 15–30% are a classic sign of a worn battery that can't deliver enough power.
3. It feels slow
Many phones reduce performance to protect an aging battery. A new battery often makes the phone feel fast again.
4. It gets hot while charging
Some warmth is normal. Uncomfortably hot is not.
5. The screen is lifting or the case is bulging
This can mean a swollen battery. Stop using and charging the phone and bring it in right away — swollen batteries should be handled by a professional.
6. Your phone says so
On iPhone, check Settings → Battery → Battery Health. Many Android phones show battery health under Settings → Battery or Device Care.
